rear Chapman strut
now minus brake
trying to get the damn control arm pivot outs. they took some pretty heavy persuasion...I will be needing new ones :)
old springs...new springs! if you ever have to work with these things get yourself a spring compressor, C clamps are not enough!
engine mounts? we don't need no stinking engine mounts! at least not right here anyway...
steering rack
the front struts pivot on that bearing in the middle there when you steer. cool!
ok, no springs. time to remove old oil-filled shocks
ok, one out and off with the brake rotors
separating these two was a job and a half
darn, stuck strut cartridge! (yes I did take off the 'gland packing' - go Datsunese)
hmm, I don't think the strut rod was supposed to pull out of there... and why won't that damned cartridge come out?!!
aah two weeks later, it is out and threads have been..ahem..'repaired'
sandblasted and repainted looks like the real thing!
I swear, these are the original parts, honestly!
motor adapter is almost finished, at last!
and from the other side...
meanwhile, inside...
heater box and blower fan are out
dashboard, steering column?! who needs 'em
rear deck where I will be putting 6 batteries. Sharpie lines are where the structural members are underneath
inside
well, after scraping off the sound deadener I still have some floors! thin, yes, but holes, no!
back again!
damn, some of the bad stuff. should be a relatively easy repair though
left rear fender from the outside...
and from inside the wheel well
how many across?
