Amptoids

Amptoids are electric guitar/bass headphone amps built inside Altoids tins.  I designed and built one of these last year so I could practice my bass without annoying my roommate, and a few other people expressed interest so I made a bunch more of them.   If you are interested in one, let me know.

Amptoids #1 on the left and newer prototype on the right! The newer one has a 1/4" mono input for a guitar or bass, an 1/8" input for an iPod or CD player, and an 1/8" headphone out.

The original amptoids used a salvaged cd player headphone amp while the newer one is op amp based

Amptoids automatically turn on when a guitar or bass is plugged in!

a 9V battery should last 7-10 hours, I think. The nice LED uses up a little, but it's so slick it's ok.

The Wintergreen Edition Amptoids circuit on the right includes useless special features such as a green LED and green capacitors.

I even borrowed the 9V batt from my bass for these pictures.
